Intro
While I love academic, theories, and research, AND I’ve done my fair share of research to graduate two master’s programs and write a book, I’m not wired to be a researcher. My methodologies probably have several holes that a seasoned academic could point out to me (and some definitely have). Therefore, I try to find people who are dedicated to exploring, researching, and unearthing trends… people like Elliot Haspel.
Elliot is the author of two books (see resources), he’s a nationally-recognized family policy expert and commentator with fellowships at Capita and Better Life Lab, a program of New America, and he is an incredible dad and community builder, who I met in 2020(ish) when we were both navigating the pandemic, supporting our families, and trying to understand the role of men and dads.
Elliot’s research focuses on childcare and the policies and infrastructure necessary for children to thrive and parents to not lose their minds trying to juggle everything!
This recording is a bit shorter than usual because, well, life is happens, but we’ll be back with another recording soon!

Better Life Lab (a program of New America): an organization with a vision of a nation in which individuals, families, and communities thrive with the support of equitable, high-quality universal care infrastructure; accessible, good, fair work that nurtures purpose, learning, growth, health and well-being; and enlightened cultural norms that respect autonomy and different ways of living, promote fairness, and enable time for care and connection across the arc of life.
